Dunfermline Solar Questions
It's SP Energy Networks, not SSEN — and yes, it affects your timeline. Most solar-and-battery systems need their approval (a 'G99 application') before switch-on, not just a notification afterwards. We submit this as part of your quote and build the wait into your installation plan, so it's never a surprise.
Most Dunfermline homes don't — solar panels are usually 'permitted development', meaning no planning application needed. The exception is the Dunfermline Conservation Area (covering the Abbey, town centre and Pittencrieff Park) and listed buildings, where Fife Council has extra rules. We check this for you at the survey and flag anything that needs council sign-off.
We cover Dunfermline itself — Abbeyview, Touch, Woodmill, Garvock Hill, Baldridgeburn, Halbeath and Duloch — plus the wider West Fife commuter belt: Rosyth, Inverkeithing, North Queensferry, Crossgates, Cowdenbeath, Kelty and South Queensferry. Just outside this list? Ask us anyway — we cover much of West Fife.
A typical 4kWp system in Fife could generate around 3,450 kWh a year, based on a local yield figure of about 857 kWh per kWp for a south-facing roof. Your own roof's angle and any shading will change that, which is why we confirm real numbers with a site survey. We even have a live Dunfermline system whose actual output you can see, not just a projection.
Most residential installs take just 1-2 days once scaffolding is up. Dunfermline's mix of sandstone terraces, post-war semis and newer estates each need different scaffolding and access plans, so we work this out at your survey — including parking on narrower streets near the town centre. We arrange all the scaffolding for you as part of your quote.
