Lanarkshire is SP Energy Networks territory, and most solar-and-battery systems need their 'G99' approval before switch-on. We submit it as part of your quote and build the wait into your installation plan.

Lanarkshire Solar Questions

Entry-level systems start from £3,999, and a typical Lanarkshire installation lands between £6,000-£12,000 depending on panel count, battery size and your roof. That covers the full job — scaffolding, the grid application and MCS paperwork included. We confirm an exact figure at a free survey.

Two measured answers. A 14-panel system we installed in Wishaw in June 2024 generated 4,560 kWh in the 12 months to July 2026 and met 68% of the household electricity use. An 8-panel system in Hamilton with a larger 20.8 kWh battery, installed in May 2025, generated 3,844 kWh over the same period. They avoided an estimated £946 and £938 of electricity costs respectively — estimates based on measured generation at typical tariff rates, not guarantees. Your own figure depends on your roof, usage and tariff. Both systems are on our live map.

Lanarkshire's official MCS yield figure is about 842 kWh per kWp each year for a well-placed roof, so a typical 4 kWp system could produce around 3,350 kWh a year. Orientation, pitch and shading all move the real number — we confirm yours at survey, and our live Wishaw and Hamilton installs give you two measured local benchmarks.

Most Lanarkshire homes don't — roof-mounted solar is normally permitted development. The exceptions are listed buildings and conservation areas, most famously around New Lanark, where the councils apply extra rules. We check this for you at the survey and flag anything that needs council sign-off.

Lanarkshire is covered by SP Energy Networks, and most solar-and-battery systems need their approval (a 'G99 application') before switch-on. No hassle for you — we submit it as part of your quote and build the waiting time into your installation plan.

Both council areas. North Lanarkshire: Motherwell, Wishaw, Airdrie, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld and Bellshill. South Lanarkshire: Hamilton, East Kilbride, Larkhall, Carluke, Lanark, Strathaven and Biggar. Two of our live monitored systems sit right in the middle of the patch, in Wishaw and Hamilton.
